Health and Safety Policies

We have always put safety first to protect our families, children, and staff. We continue to collaborate with medical professionals and follow the CDC guidelines in practicing health and safety measures.

Considerations to ensure the safe return of children to Crystal Garden Montessori

  • Keep your child at home if they are sick with any illness.
  • Check temperatures prior to coming to school each day.
  • Report symptoms to the childcare program.
  • Have an emergency plan of who may pick up your child from care during the day if your child becomes ill, if you work in a setting that may not allow you to leave work immediately.

Drop-off/pick-up Procedures

  • Parents/caregivers MUST wear face coverings when entering the building or gated area.
  • Only one parent (preferably the same person) is allowed to drop off/pick up their children in the lobby area.
  • Please enter and exit the lobby one person at a time to allow for social and physical distancing.
  • If you come at a time when another family is being checked in, please patiently wait outside until our staff informs you it is your turn to enter the building.
  • Please expect staff to conduct health screenings for the children and themselves upon arrival and throughout the day.
  • The health screening will involve visual wellness and temperature checks with a “no touch” thermometer
  • Health questions will be asked when there is a reason for concern
  • Our staff will only take healthy children who display no fever or flu-like symptoms to the classroom.
  • If a fever is suspected, the child will be sent home immediately.

Extra Hygiene Measures and Procedures

Hand Washing:

  • As soon as students arrive to the classroom, they are required to wash their hands.
  • Hands will be washed throughout the day and more frequently with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds.
  • Hand sanitizer will be used when soap and water is not available with adult supervision.

Sanitizing/Disinfecting:

  • Expect cleaning and sanitation to happen often
  • All frequently touched surfaces and toys will be disinfected multiple times throughout the day, as well as at the end of the day.

Mask Wearing:

  • All staff members will wear appropriate face coverings
  • Children over the age of 2 years should wear a mask to the best of their ability, especially when indoors or when a six-foot physical distance from others cannot be maintained

Social Distancing:

  • Children will remain in small class sizes to ensure adequate social distancing.
  • Classes will include the same group of students and same teachers each day.
  • We have developed physical distancing protocols in both indoor and outdoor spaces that are developmentally appropriate and easy for children to understand.
